On-site Computer Repair Pros And Cons
On-site Computer Repair
Is on-site computer repair for you? Are you one of those people who doesn’t trust anybody? Maybe you’re one of those people that locks themselves in the house and won’t leave unless it’s an emergency. Do you need same day service? So what you do when your computer has issues? What you do when you can’t get online? What’s the next step when you hit the power button on your computer and nothing happens? Who do you call? Do you start freaking out because now you’ve got to take
your computer to the local computer repair shop? I think you’re a perfect candidate for on-site computer repair. I’m going to speak about a couple of pros and cons of this kind of computer service.
Many companies get excited when they get called out to do on-site computer repair at a particular location or residence. This usually means a hefty hourly charge that is billed consecutively, we’ve usually a two-hour minimum charge. This can get extremely expensive seeing as how some companies charge in the upwards of $90 an hour. Best Buy charges about $300 to make a house call for virus and spyware removal, something that I usually charge $100 for. Being a small business owner my fees are around $60 an hour for on-site computer repair, as opposed to free pickup and drop-off from $100 dollars flat rate service at my office.
Pros of On-Site Computer Repair
- Client can oversee the service
- Client can feel more secure with their data
- Client can ensure immediate same day service
Cons of On-Site Computer Repair
- Hourly charge can get really expensive
- Usually a minimum charge incurred
- Technician may need to bring the computer back to the office anyways
- Some diagnostics cannot be run on site
There are pros and cons for the technician as well but mostly it is easier to work on the computer on the bench where all the tools and software needed are available. Sometimes it is safer for a technician to perform on-site computer repair depending upon the client and level of security of the data involved. Liability issues can be a huge concern for both technician and client. Every situation will be different.
You always have a client that wants to sit and watch, examine, and carried a the technician as he or she is attempting to fix and repair the computer in question. This can be
very nerve-racking and a hindrance to the technician. On-site computer repair conditions also play a big part for the technician, and his ability to perform high quality service. Dogs, children, living conditions all play a part in the service provided. We do our best to adjust, but some conditions are just very difficult. We’re human too!
You Have Options
I like to offer pickup and delivery for free to all my clients, to give options that are as convenient as on-site computer repair. I make more money doing computer repair on location, however it is much easier and more economical for me to work on computers in my office. I strive to offer the best customer service possible, and accommodate the conditions which cause my customers to feel most comfortable.
